Yep, this is happening to tons of people. I was playing with my guild in Team Arenas and we all got booted at once due to Code Error 40, then we tried to log back on it would sit at 0% and then give us the same code, saying Guild Wars Cannot Complete this operation. At one point we all got Code Error 35, which is the error given when someone else logs onto your account. There is certainly something wrong with their servers at the moment.

Yeah, just checked. Mapped from Jennur's Horde to Lion's Arch, no problem at all.

I kept on getting kicked out when I tried to go to Ascalon City. Everywhere else worked fine. Some guildies of mine also couldn't get to Ruins of Surmia and some of the other places around Ascalon. Still, now the game is working fine again, and we were always able to reconnect (even if it booted us as soon as we tried to get into the problem areas again).
Whatever this is, I hope it doesn't last very long.

What does that even mean? You mean change your IP-number?
(Or do you actually mean changing ISP alltogheter? that would not matter because the problems are not with one single ISP). You just got lucky and/or ArenaNet fixed the issues.

Heres some things said by Gaile.
Quote:
Is there any additional information you can provide? Where are you connecting from? (Country, State) Can you pull an IP number from the log-in screen? This would help us figure this out very much. (Connection from here--Seattle area--is just fine.)
Thanks for any additional info you can give.

I bet that the message they get is because the server still sees them as connected on their own accounts. I highly doubt it's a mass hack. Don't worry, we'll get it sorted out, but additional info would be appreciated.

Another thing posted by Gaile.

Our Network Center reports they are investigating this issue, but feels that player counts have returned to normal. Can you connect now???
|
After that most people on the forums reported going back to normal, but then people started reporting getting the same error again.

My husband and I both play and right at the end of the Gate of Pain mission got err 40, that was about 2 hrs ago and haven't been able to log in since. We are in the Netherlands. Guess Shiro and Lich will just have to wait!
Oh and if we do get logged in as soon as we try and map somewhere it sits at 0% and then kicks us with err 40
